My Story

My passion for helping others started long before I even knew what counseling was. Growing up, my mom was a wildlife rehabilitator, and I spent much of my childhood watching her care for injured and vulnerable animals with patience, gentleness, and compassion. I remember hovering over her shoulder as I watched her tube feed a baby squirrel, glue a turtles shell back together, or nurture a fawn that lost its mom, back to health.

In watching her, I witnessed firsthand the power of creating safety, offering consistent care, and allowing healing to happen in its own time. It requires trust, connection and a calm, supportive space free of shame or judgement. It takes tremendous courage to be seen and acknowledge where you have been hurt, and sitting with you, supporting you, hearing your story is an honor that I do not take lightly.

I think the most meaningful moments of my childhood were watching those animals return to the wild once they had healed. There was always a mixture of feeling joy but having to let go. Looking back, I think those moments shaped the way I see counseling. It’s about rediscovering your own strength, finding safety within yourself again, and slowly learning that it’s okay to step back into life with hope.

In undergrad, I studied psychology, and naturally, the next step seemed to be graduate school for counseling. I didn’t have some dramatic revelation or life-changing moment where everything suddenly became clear. Nothing came to me in a dream. Instead, I truly believe it was the Lord faithfully carrying me into the next chapter, even before I fully understood where the path was leading. Looking back, I can see His hand guiding me toward work that reflects both compassion and purpose. Like anyone, I’ve experienced hurt, heartbreak, confusion, and seasons of feeling lost — and I imagine you probably have too. But you are the expert of your own life. My role is not to take the wheel of your car, or tell you where your journey should go. Instead, I’ll sit in the passenger seat beside you — supporting you, helping you navigate difficult turns, offering guidance and perspective when needed, and reminding you that you don’t have to drive through hard seasons alone.
